ABOUT ME
I am Margaret Robinson.
I have always known I was an artist. Always. When I was a kid, I believed I had a "knack" for drawing. As I got older, I realized I was an above-average artist. I enrolled in the Academy of Art University a few years after high school and quickly learned that there were MANY "above-average" artists in the world! I loved attending school in San Francisco. The vibe of the city, my creative-minded peers, inspiration surrounded us at every turn. I am thankful for the time I spent at AAU. My artistic mind and abilities were challenged, and as a result, my skills broadened immensely. Unfortunately; life challenges, naysayers, and naivete caused me to abandon my art dreams.
In the meantime, my creative outlet presented itself in other ways such as; choreography and hairdressing. Choreography and dance hold an irreplaceable love that lives deep inside me (my drawings of dancers are my favorite.) A friend of mine suggested I become a hairdresser because in his words, "you are an artist, you will be better than everyone." He was right, I was great hairdresser. Helping so many women look and feel beautiful was extremely rewarding. It also allowed me to be creative and not lose that part of myself all while forming relationships with the amazing people I worked with.
I dabbled back into the art world soon after meeting my husband. I was well into my 30's when we met. He ignited a passion for life that had been dim for over a decade. To this day, he is my biggest fan, my biggest supporter. With persistence and the encouragement from a variety of teachers, mentors, and friends; I am back to my roots. Doing what brings me the most joy, harmony, zen, peace, and fulfillment. And as much as I love drawing and creating, what I love even more is bringing joy to other people. Seeing the happy faces and sometimes tears of my clients after presenting my work to them always validates why this is my true passion. And I will never again allow my gift to lay dormant because I truly believe this is what I was born to do.
